Very good holding in 3-5 metres (eastern side) or 7 metres (western side) on sandy bottom, great shelter from all but north quadrant winds and swell. You can get a bit of shelter from then noreasters but it gets a little rolly. Mimiwhangata is a beautiful spot and popular camping area to which families return year after year. This is a marine park with no commercial fishing and restrictions on recreational fishing. There is lovely large gently sloping beach and a nice walk over to Kaituna Bay. Check www.doc.govt.nz for details.
