[s]Anchored up off Lomaloma village which is an administration centre for this part of the Lau group. Has a hospital, 8 nurses, docs & dentista, x-ray facililities so quite a big deal. Yesterday topped up with diesel (YAY!) and about a tonne of aid supplies much of it in cardboard cardboard cartons = the ultimate transport for cockroaches (boooo). I'm sure I recognize tins of beans and fruit from the cyclone collection appeal at work a couple of months back. Anyways are to distibute yhis load to 4 of the outlying islands buddied-up with a beautiful ketch out of Conneticut. Dirk & Gretchen travel with a mighty handsome black cat on board. Plenty of evidence of cyclone Winston devistation. NZ frigate Canterbury was based here 2 months helping reconstruction. Some of the roofless buildings tagged with you "luv you NZ" and "thanks for your quick response". Must get this away for GHR weather update. Great nights sleep - all well aboard.

The cabin of a small yacht is truly a wonderful thing; not only will it shelter you from a tempest, but from the other troubles in life, it is a safe retreat.
