Norfolk Island is often bi passed on the way south to NZ. SV Tika stayed a few days in 2016 to avoid carrying on in unsuitable weather. This article describes anchorages and encourages others to stop at this very interesting island. Tika is a catamaran but there were mono hulls there with them during a period of high winds and swells. The three main anchorages are described.
Photos and other additions are from Patricia / Gulf Harbour Radio who visited - by air- early December 2016.

You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.
