[status] The strong wind and increasing waves continued through the day with Jolifou coping well with staysail only. Then late this afternoon a large wave broke into the cockpit from the side, swamping and filling the cockpit with a large amount of water down the companionway. It was a mess down below!
During the cleanup the skipper lost his lunch whilst Lyn did an amazing job of sponging out the bilges and cleaning down below.
The wave also bent one of the stanchions quite badly.
Big lesson learned to have the washboards in. All good since then, no more major waves. We are looking forward to the wind and waves hopefully fading a little overnight.
