[status] sailed over from Lifou to mainland New Caledonia. A beam reach all the way and about 20 knots of wind, so made good time. Currently in Port Bouquet. A nice spot with lots to do although the weather hasn?t been cooperating. It?s been really windy with squally showers at night. Last night we were anchored against some mountains. Excessively strong gusts would come down the hills and at 11pm the anchor gave up and we started dragging. In the dark and rain we moved somewhere shallower with better holding and eventually got some sleep.
Today we were invited in to the local village for church lunch! What a feed! We went back in this evening with a big bag full of bras for the village ladies.
