[status] Considering that the forecast was expecting us to be motoring all day until midnight it?s been a great day of sailing. The wind leaving New Cal was much stronger than expected, getting up to about 18 knots from the south and sailing a bit north of course with 1 reef. I think this was a sea breeze effect because there were large cumulonimbus clouds over the land with clear sky to seaward. As we got further from the coast the wind got a bit lighter and more SE direction and we?ve come up a bit. It?s been a bit up and down but in the benign sea state we?ve been able to just about keep trucking along at around 6 knots average with frequent tweaking of sails and course. Hoping the forecast remains wrong and we keep this wind through the night.
