The main anchorage for visiting yachts is in the central lagoon, south of Motu Toopua, in 15–25 m over sand. Shallower anchorage is available along the eastern shore. The northern part of the lagoon off Matira Point is in 5–10 m but busier with tourist boat traffic. Entry to the lagoon is via the single navigable pass (Teavanui Pass) on the western side — deep and straightforward but with strong currents. A marina at Bora Bora Yacht Club (Nunue) offers alongside berths.

No international customs clearance at Bora Bora — all vessels must have cleared in Papeete or the Marquesas. The gendarmerie in Vaitape issues the mandatory stamp in the logbook for island stops.
