[status] We're back into passaging mode. Last night bang on queue there was the mandatory sail changes between midnight and 3am during a cloudless squall, no point complaining though as its all part of the fun [sic]. We are now two days out from Kauai and experiencing some glorious sailing conditions today, and it is sooo nice to have an extra person on board. In fact, there were five of us on board last night. Two red footed boobies decided to hitch a ride on our pullpit. They arrived just before sundown, preened themselves thoroughly, and rode the railing through the night as we hooted along at 8-9 knots. They even took our furling of the genoa, heading up to put a reef in the main, and one of us on deck to free a sheet caught around a forward cleat in their stride. There was a lot of head swivelling but they were not going to give up their roost. Having said that they gave us a bad review in the morning by pooping on our life raft - so much for providing hospitality.
[weather] ESE 15kts, swell is ESE 1m, 1020 baro, 10% cloud cover.
