[status] On passage to Valdivia, Chile from Auckland NZ. Beautiful sailing yesterday across the bluest ocean under the bluest sky, Ithaka revelling in the flat conditions and 15 knots of wind. The wind has died down slightly overnight and begun to shift further east as a high pressure passes to the south of us. This will force us slightly north which will help to align us ready for the next front due in a couple of days. Started to read our Christmas present to each other, Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego Nautical Guide. There is an anonymous quote in the preface which caught my eye, a New Year thought, "the earth is not inherited from the fathers, but borrowed from the children". May we leave but a clean and quiet wake through 2016.
