[status] A beautiful night thanks mostly to the almost full moon, including rise and set, enhanced by the Australian east coast fire smoke.
On the down side we had bad current and light wind for most of the night as we pass through the bottom of the big counter clockwise current eddy. The wind backed enough that we are now on starboard gybe, most of the night spent motorsailing with full main and no jib. The sea conditions have been relatively boisterous compared with before, probably caused by the current against wind. Still not at all bad though.
This morning the bad current has eased and a nice 12 knots ESE has built so happily the motor is off for now and making nice progress with full sails. Based on this mornings wind forecast we may need to use the motor again sometime today, but hopefully more favorable current later setting us a little more southward will keep that to a minimum.
This should be our last day at sea before Southport arrival eta early hours of tomorrow morning.
