[status] Bai de la Somme. Beware of electronic charts, not only do they sometimes have the hard stuff in the wrong place they also lie about other things. Looked at the chart this morning and saw Prony as a square shaded area this usually means a town of some size so envisaging a cold beer at the end of the walk or at least some fresh veges and a baguette what do we get but some corrugated tin holiday houses (god knows why you would want one there) and the ruins of a penal settlement that was used at first to harvest the native hardwood to help build Noumea then later as a small mining center that is to blame for all the red mud we are going to have to clean off the dingy floor,our feet,back of boat and not to mention the 80 meters of chain we have out when we depart tomorrow. Nice walk though.
