Busy day sailing taking advantage of the wind lasting longer than predicted. Shifty winds and generally light. Motoring at the moment as light winds dead downwind.
Slow going in light wind downwind. Running wing and wing.
Winds light as forecast. We had 6 to 8 kt TWS all day so it made for a nice spinnaker flying day. Motoring now in very light winds.
Nice start to the passage with favourable winds and slight swell (and two fish)
Departing Pier 21 Auckland 1200L
Anchored of Auckland waiting for a weather window to head towards Fiji via Minerva.
Anchored off Russell to duck out of some of the gale force wind that is forecast.
Anchored with other kid boats for Christmas.
Anchored in Urupukapuka Bay after a nice sail to see and go through "hole in the rock" (through the hole with the rhib not Fluenta).
Off for a little cruise in the Bay of Islands with my sister's family
Wind shift to 170T 18 kts TWS. Baro 1011 trending up from 1010 low.
Nice downwind sail today. A chance to relax before the frontal passage tonight/tomorrow morning.
The wind has backed and the sea has settled a bit so a much more pleasant day at sea. Time to catch up on chores before we catch up the front tomorrow night (I think).
Have been making good progress with comfortable sailing but since passing a squall line at approx 22 55S very light winds.
Heading towards a WP 24S 172 30E and then south until the front.
