La Belle Epoque
Followbrief description of our boat: LA BELLE EPOQUE is a heavy built steal boat with traditional lines and ketch rigg. She is 43 feet on deck and has her home port in Austria. Currently she is green hull, white, green and sand topsides, brown wheelhouse, burgundy sail covers. She was built in Germany 1975 by a family and sailing the North and Baltic Sea. We, Claudia and Jurgen, are the third owner and gave her a total refit in Austria 2004 to 2009. We left Austria by using rivers and waterways, headed to the North Sea. We are living and traveling on board since 2009, sailed north and wintered on board in arctic Norway, spend a year in Greenland and got iced in there. We came to the Pacific via the Northwest Passage in 2013 and spend a year in Alaska. LA BELLE EPOQUE showed herself very capable of sailing difficult areas and high latitudes.
