Today marks completion of our 4th week at sea, which has actually gone surprisingly quickly, given the routine imposed by watches - only 3 over each day! (we do 4 on, 4 off). Our boom 'repair', rather amazingly, is still holding, having now completed over 1,400nm!

Friday 10th July

Monday the weather packed in and so we were confined to the boat, watching
movies. Tuesday and Wednesday were the same. So it was quick dashes between
Dalitu (Kirsty and David's boat) and Imagine as rain stopped. We swapped DVD
movies and tails of the sea and travels.

So far the mountains have been mostly shrouded in clouds, but even glimpses through the mists have been captivating. Otters abound, and porpoises and whales have been feeding in the cove. We are the only vessel in this area, and it feels magical!

[status] We've had a day of equatorial celebrations, sacrifices, poetry, prose and giggles! Everyone has had a hair cut, some more extreme than others, and both Izzie and Kath were subjected to 1 minute haircuts handed out by the captain, significantly reducing the length of hair to above the shoulder! I reckon I did great;) Although I'm not considering a vocational change! My heads been shaved, and just quietly I'm working on doing Denis' too!

[status] At 109 local time, 909am UTC on the 9/7 we crossed the equator! Being the middle of the night most everyone was of course asleep, but Denis and myself celebrated as we changed night watches with a small fist pump and a bro-five, and the sacrifices to Neptune will begin in the morning!

Sorry Guys the photos didn't upload. Lets try again.

Over the years I've only come across two other examples of this species of
tree , I'm sure they must be on the endangered list. The shoetree is easily
mistaken for the European sandalwood, see photo.

[status] That current was certainly nice while it lasted, but the dream run is over for now and we now seem to be struggling to make hull speed, despite good wind, so likely dealing with a little adverse current.
