[status] At CNI Raiatea, readying DG for trip, Nav lights playing up, may need a sparky. It's warm and cloudy here , with episodic rain. Expensive place to live, time to leave! Aim to go to Borabora in next few days, before leaving foe Niue.

[status] Due to a series of gales on the southern Western Australian coast, The Southern Cross was berthed at the Batavia Coast Marina, Geraldton for 11 days. We had hoped to sail right through to Perth, but took a 28 hour weather window and travelled as far as Jurien Bay. Hope to leave for Perth in the next few days, after more strong southerlies blow through.

[s]Nice day passage to Islot Amedee (the location of the biggest lighthouse in New Caledonia at 175 ft tall. Especially impressive as this is one of the few countries we have been to that actually has functioning lighthouses). Highlight of the trip was a mum and child humpback whale surfacing about 20 feet from Fluenta. We saw two small pods of the whales and drifted for awhile to watch them.

[status] We finally had some rain last night with a squall. The s/v Fleur de Passion moved over to our location. It is the largest sailing vessel under the Swiss flag, and has onboard nine crew. They are sailing the Magellan route, and plan to be back in Seville Spain by 2019. We will move over to the NW pass later today and do some diving. It is supposed to be an excellent pass dive.
