Sheer Tenacity

Rod and Mary sailed from Cape Town in 2008 in their "homebuilt" Dudley Dix designed Shearwater 39, Sheer Tenacity. Their voyage has taken them via the Atlantic islands of St Helena and Ascension to the Bay of Islands, south of Rio, up the Brazilian coast to the Caribbean where they cruised for a couple of years. They then crossed the Caribbean Sea via the ABC's and Colombia to the San Blas and Panama. .They transited the canal in March 2013, and followed the milk run to Galapagos, Marquesas, French Polynesia, Suwarrow, Samoa ,Tonga, before arriving in NZ in November 2013. They spent most of 2014 exploring North and South Island by land, doing boat work, and preparing for the next leg of their travels to Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, and Australia.

Still anchored in Minerva,with 6 other yachts, all probably waiting to set off for Fiji on Saturday. Walked around on the Northern side of the reef at low tide yesterday, and enjoyed a grilled steak

Motoring for 12 hours, several very wet squalls. Just turned off the engine and sailing gently in flat conditions.....lovely. As I write, its just started to rain again!

Made good progress during morning, with 20kn wsw winds, buckets of rain, and the odd squall packing 30+knots. Wind dropped in pm, and cleared up some, before backing round to S, and dropping to 5kn
