Protected Anchorages
The bay is large and well-sheltered with numerous anchorage options. The best-known is Port Boisé on the western shore, in 5–10 m over mud with good holding. The small village of Prony near the southern end of the bay has a charming historic site with ruins of a 19th century convict settlement. Anchorages throughout the bay are peaceful and secure from all directions. The hot springs at Port Boisé allow a bath in warm geothermal water at the water's edge.
