[s]Got smashed yesterday eve with biggest T-Storm I've ever seen. 5 hours with lightning striking water all around. Sailed upwind and held our breath. Then after lightning stopped, got hit with 40++ knot squall. Lasted 4 hours. We hove to and are still that way waiting to catch up on a little sleep and see what morning conditions bring.

Viani bay is a beautiful protected anchorage. Snorkeling and diving on the Rainbow reef is not to be missed!!!!.

Fawn harbour is a very protected anchorage with several Caucasian settlers, nice locals and hot springs. Good sandy anchorage and plenty of reef.

[s] Anchored in the lee of Ovaka island off the pier. Coupling between engine and gearbox is in pieces so slow day sailing managed to sail in to anchorage just before the sun set. Plan to sail up to Neiafu in the morning. Correction for our last post, we have an ssb reciever but no transmitter. Realy enjoy the weather round up, thanks for puting it out guys.[END]
