Matin d'Or

Matin d'Or (French for golden morning), is a Westerly Ocean Master 48. She is number 16 of 24 that were built. We have owned her since February 2008. she is cutter rigged and with all her sails on furlers she is easily handled. In 2011 we added a solid hardtop which has made her very comfortable to sail and live aboard. we have sailed Matin d'Or from Auckland to Sydney, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Brisbane, New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji.

Anchored in Esema Bay Havana Harbour, good sail from Port Vila. Destruction from cyclone Pam in 2015 still very evident, boats still wrecked ashore , 12 on Iririka island PV, a large super yacht

Cleared Navula Pass at 0715. Enroute to Port Vila, Vanuatu. Fantastic sailing, slight swell, warm and sunny, we're great. No internet until in Port Vila when can get SIM card on Monday or Tuesday.

Anchored at Likuliku with an exclusive resort ashore. Dinghied to Honeymoon Island which we had to ourselves. Lovely. Weather fantastic as long as you don't want to sail anywhere!

Really fun time, last night our team won the quiz night. Today we raced to the sandbank on MdO, great fun, heaps of short tacks to get thru the narrow passages in the reef and dodging other yachts
