we got news today via Eagles Wings that Jim and Joy were helicoptered off Kelerin in big seas off the Washington Coast. They were on their way back from their years in the SW Pacific and were soon to be home. This is from the USCG.

@USCGPacificNW#USCG aircrew aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter led to distressed sailors by EPIRB registered to S/V Kelaerin. The two sailors reportedly transiting from Hawaii to Bellingham, Washington were hoisted to safety.

At Port Vila after a refreshing six day abaft of the beam run from Opua.

AWOB (except for the spinnaker which we did not ask for detail about!), as they have great direction winds and have only 241 to go to port Vila. Winds will back to ESE tomorrow. stlll a good direction.

Lucky Il Sogno. They were downwind of a large emission from the ambrym volcano a few days ago. The emitted sulphur dioxide went up to the clouds, reacted with moisture and came down on Il Sogno and Bravo with a lovely sulphurous acid mixture to tarnish all their stainless steel!
