This is the first in a series of informational posts and videos about one of the best cruising grounds in New Zealand. Ranging from Marlborough Sounds through to the Abel Tasman at the top of the South Island in central NZ.

Wellington, the capital city of NZ is the gateway to these cruising grounds. With Picton, Havelock and Nelson being the host towns of this fabulous area, there is no shortage of places to resupply and rest up. When you enter Marlborough you have entered NZ's wine region, Captain Cook's favourite place in the world and home to the Queen Charlotte Track. When you enter Abel Tasman, you enter golden sandy beaches, warm water and one of NZ's 9 Great Walks.

Before you go, be sure to get yourself a copy of the in-depth cruising guide written by a member of Wellington's Mana Cruising Club.
