We spent yesterday swimming and snorkeling at the coral gardens which are on the edge of the lagoon. John found a water leak in the engine so spent the evening working head down in that, with Penny the official water bailing assistant! Today we returned to Neiafu and had a birthday dinner at the Basque tavern - great night with tapas & food a plenty!

Have had a great couple of days swimming and snorkeling at Hunga. We were visited by Vaha in his boat from the local village as he had some pearls to sell. We also swopped some food for vanilla pods! At high tide we sailed out the gap and on to Vakaeitu island (part of Nuapapu island lagoon). We were invited to a feast on the beach in the evening by the locals. As today is Penny's birthday it is a good way to end the day!

We sailed into Hunga island lagoon today. It is only a small gap to get into and has a rock in the middle so best done at high tide! At low tide we dinghyed over to Blue Lagoon through another gap! There we found some amazing fish. What a fantastic peaceful anchorage Hunga island is!

Back in Neiafu to pick up supplies and we were all taken on a tour of the main island of Vava'u with Pastor Havilli and his wonderful family and their American friends. We went on the back of the church truck as it is diesel and petrol is in short supply. We saw some fantastic places & ended with a picnic at a lovely beach!

Here we are at Port Maurelle again, after arriving last night. It took us about an hour from Neiafu Harbour. What a fantastic day we've had today snorkeling (reminded us of a tropical aquarium) and walking on the beach and the island!

Here we are at Neiafu Harbour in Vava'u after sailing up last Saturday and Sunday from Nuku'alofa. It took 30 hours as wind was light to start but later had gusts over 20 knots. We anchored at Port Maurelle for the night to catch up on sleep, and are now at Neiafu. Our friends Paula & John from the UK sailed with us and we look forward to exploring the islands here!

Went across to Fala island from Nuku'alofa for the day with Shirley and Bill - friends we met that were running the Mango Tree centre (for disabled folk) for 6 months. What a beautiful island and a wonderful resort there.
