We hired a privat bus to explore the interior of Sri Lanka. We climbed a 200 meter rock mountain with 1202 steps, went to a spice and herb garden, got a mini massage and spent some money. Had a small safari to watch elephants and water buffalos feed, visited a beautiful tea plantation and watched them make tea. Spent one night at a cold chalet with no water for awhile then water but ice cold. Air temp at night was 8degrees C. We also bought some buffalo yogurt.

It was a great way to see the country. We do like Sri Lanka.

Cruisers say that their plans are written in sand on a beach. Quite often at low tide.

My personal sailing motto is “adapt and overcome”,

Two years ago, when we decided to leave SE Asia and cross the Indian Ocean sailing the southern route, we encountered mechanical problems and turned around. In 2019 we were ready to try it again, this time from Malaysia to Sri Lanka...the northern route to Madagascar and South Africa.

Currently anchored in Sri Lanka we started thinking of places we always wanted to visit before leaving this part of the world.

India, Nepal, China.....immediately came to mind. Inspired by this idea and friends currently in India, we decided to change our plans sailing to South Africa this year. When we leave Sri Lanka we will sail to Cochin, India and spend the rest of the year there. The new one year Visa with multiple entries for India certainly was a factor for changing our mind.

India...here we come. South Africa has to wait for another year.
