On Ian's mooring in French Farm at Akaroa probably for the next 2 weeks at least. So far 2 offers of vehicle to do shopping when required from these amazingly generous folk down here.

On Ian's mooring French Farm, Akaroa. Motor sailed into light N/NW for 16 hrs then 25/30 kn SE arrived to give a very bumpy sail to Akaroa Heads. 3 reefs in main very small genoa (probably should have waited for next S change)

had a great day exploring Settlement Anchorage and water fall. Now anchored NW end of Cooks Arm Port Pegasus. Totally surrounded by land but now being visited by sand flies. Caught 3 blue cod last night so looking fwd to dinner tonight.

anchored inside Rosa Island, Port Pegasus. A clear sky and a gentle autumn afternoon after a crappy 3 hours motoring into 30+ kn over the last 6 miles. If we had been further out when the wind shift arrived I might have turned around and headed to Lords River

On local fisherman's mooring in Kaipipi Bay. Expecting Gale to arrive this afternoon. Stewart Island had its summer yesterday. Minimum cell coverage on the bow sprit. Nice and warm inside with heater on.

Arrived Oamaru harbour 0800. Entering would be impossible at low tide. The main wharf, now abandoned is home to a massive cormorant colony the stench of which covers the harbour. Will explore ashore tomorrow.
