Double Bubble

We have had a bit on! We went back in the water on Tuesday arvo, fired up the engines & with minimal smoke & a cough, they both went brooom! A nice supply of water & ran smoothly, yay! Then opened up ball valves to toilets for a few good flushes & no water coming through port valve, despite handle moving it must have just snapped from the ball, bummer! Thankfully they lifted us out 1st thing Wednesday. Poor skipper back at it again & had to grind off external skin fitting to remove ball valve (we epoxy them together) to replace with new, we still had primer & thankfully there was still some antifoul paint hanging around that we could use, yay! He then tested the rest of the valves only to have the Port A/C intake valve do the same thing, so we had to get everything back out & do that one, bummer! Then go to give the boat a hose down with the good hose only to have the thing split & spring a leak, so clearly we're still paying for those crickets I killed, bummer! Off in the morning to Hope Island Marina for a week to sort out boat (it's half the price)!

So from us tying up at fuel berth on the 7th to being slipped on the 8th, engine removal, transport etc, clever skipper has totally stripped & rebuilt both engines (Yanmar 3GM30's) & with the yard up & running again, we have just got them back in, ready for reconnection in under 3 weeks! Meantime, I've been stripping propellors of Propspeed, with props also getting a full service, new bearings etc! Also, as a bonus we've just cracked 100445 reads on YIT, so cheers!

Happy New Year! We hired a moving truck with a lift in it, grabbed a hefty neighbour who helped lift the trolley up Michelles front steps & bingo bango, loaded engines, a breeze! Gathered up all tools etc, back to boat, snaffled a chap on a forklift and engines are now under the boat on pallets ready for completion. Hopefully with all going well we should be back in the water by the end of next week when slipway up & running again. A huge big THANK YOU to Michelle for letting us stay & all her running around taking us to & fro hire places, collecting parts etc. Oh & we sold the engine stand day after needing it, yay! Oh and fyi as it's a new year if you want to see old posts, turn your phone & click back to 2024 or hey 2019 when we started "YIT"
