Another Adventure
Back in Whangarei this morning. All is well here and will be staying put for a couple of months now.
Anchored in Parua Bay now after anchored last night in Tutukaka Harbor. Quiet sheltered corner here, called The Nook. Nice weather and easy sailing all the way from Bay of Islands. Tomorrow to work out the plan for Whangarei.
In Whangaruru Harbor after a nice sail from the Bay of Islands.
Left Bay of Islands Marina this morning and anchored in Omakiwi Cove. I think I will move around to the other side of Cape Brett tomorrow. Maybe to Whangaruru or Whangamumu depending on what the wind is doing.
Arrived safely yesterday morning. In the berth at BOI Marina. A great night sleep does wonders!
Good to see you are in NZ
congratulations Frank. Great

Motorsailed last night with slow going. Good sailing this morning but will put the motor on again as present course will not clear North Cape. There is a west setting current that sets about 20 degrees to the west and I am hoping that with the tide change it will turn around and set the other way. So far not yet! All is well with a beautiful morning about 25nm north of North Cape and 102nm to Opua.
Still motor sailing to keep sped up and get as far along as possible before the expected stronger headwinds arrive later. Then I will see what works after that. Had some heavy rain showers last night and this morning with a bit of lightning. There are still squalls in the area but I managed to get 20 gallons transferred from the deck to the tank between squalls. 224 nm to Opua and hope to be approaching there tomorrow night.

still sailing as close on the wind as possible. Showers and squally this morning but wind shifted to ENE for little while so I actually made a bit of easting. It has shifted back mostly now but steering 150 is much better than the 170 of most of yesterday. 363 nm to the Bay of Islands. Damp but well on board.

Bay of Islands is Brg 147 about 496nm. About 55nm NE of Norfolk Island. IF the wind would back 10 degrees or so I could make it on this tack! Been close hauled on port tack since leaving New Cal Tuesday afternoon. Living the slant is tiresome but no storms and good progress.

Still not able to steer the rumbh line but making good progress. Some rain showers last night. Getting used to living on the slant!
Still in Port Moselle will decide this morning but on my way to clear out and should clearing the reef by later this afternoon. It looks this morning like I should be able to reach Opua before the low arrives with headwinds down there.
Still in Port Moselle will decide this morning whether to leave today.
Still in Port Moselle marina. Probably until after front passes later this week. Have to find a way to get free of the Velcro in this marina!-
in Port Moselle marina waiting for the next window for our pleasant sail to Opua.
Hi Frank , Doug & Sandra
Calm and overcast back in Port Moselle waiting for the next window to NZ.
Still anchored at Baie Papaye. Very gusty again yesterday and some rain overnight.
Moved from Port Moselle yesterday and am anchored at Baie Papaye about 9nm to the NW. With the wind gusting SE at 30kn yesterday it was the best the place to go. The marina needed my berth and the harbor in Noumea is packed. Protected from the strong easterlies it is a good anchorage.
Greetings. Frank! Gail and I
Berthed at Port Moselle Marina in Noumea. Ready for coffee and croissant!

All is well on the mooring at Port Vila.
Still on the mooring at Port Vila. Waiting for fair wind to go to New Caledonia. Maybe Tuesday?
Still on the mooring at Port Vila. Waiting to sail to New Caledonia but don?t trust the front approaching there close to arrival time. Likely here for another week or so.
Still on the mooring at Port Vila. Looking for a weather window to sail S to New Caledonia. Perhaps Thursday?
Still on the mooring at Port Vila. We had some showers last night but clearing this morning. I plan to hang here for a week and then wait for a window to head south to New Caledonia.

The wind lightened during the day from the SE and made an easier motor sail. I decided to spend the night at Banam Bay on Malekula. I will sail to Epi today.
Leaving this morning for Port Vila. Wind still gusting to 20kn from ESE. Hoping that settles soon. I should arrive tomorrow afternoon if the wind backs a bit and settles.
Still anchored at Luganville. Hoping to start SE toward Port Vila tomorrow.
Anchored at Luganville. Had winds 15-20 from ESE for the sail yesterday. Big Independence Day Festival all weekend here. Millennium Cave tour today.
Anchored at Vao island at the north end of Malakula. Had winds 15-20 from ESE for the sail yesterday. They are celebrating ?Independence Day? here this week. Sail to Aore today.
Dear Frank, so nice to get
Anchored at Ranon, Ambrym, Gusty to 20kn in anchorage. Climbed volcano yesterday but too cloudy to see much. Leaving shortly to the Vao at the north end of Malakula.
Anchored at Ranon, Ambrym, hopefully to see the volcano this week. Perhaps tomorrow? Had 15-20 SE with some strong gusts along Pentecost yesterday.
Anchored at Lolton on NE Pentecost Island. Some strong gusts coming over the ridge and some rain last night. Sailing this morning for Ambrym, hopefully to see the volcano this week.
Anchored at Lolton on NE Pentecost Island. Beautiful day yesterday. Showers last night and occasional gusts over the mountain ridge. Friendly village, Matthew and Mary to prepare a meal for us and show us around. Glenda to give us a tour of the haunted cave. We will sail to Ambrym tomorrow.
Anchored in vanilla Bay at Ambae Island. Leaving for Lolton on Pentacost this morning. Had a good crossing from Santo yesterday. Followed David?s suggestion. Had a fast close reach to Devil?s Point and then stayed in with land for easy motor sail to the anchorage.
Anchored at Aese Island. Leaving for Ambae this morning.
Anchored by Oyster Island resort in flat calm warm weather. Disappointed that the new owners of the resort do not want cruisers on shore and are not maintaining the markers through the inner reef. Only two marks left so without a good track the narrow pass is treacherous.
Anchored at Louganville Bay after a nice downwind sail from Port Stanley yesterday. May move around to Oyster Island after some provisioning this morning.
In Port Stanley after changing plans yesterday. Ambrym had dense cloud cover and with showers in the forecast we decided head north. Had 18-20kn from SE for the sail yesterday. We will sail to Louganville this morning.
In Gaspard Bay in the Maskelynes, but planning to sail to Ambrym this morning, about 30nm to Ranvetlam. Less windy but still gusts up to 25kn. Overcast and chilly. Hoping for some clearing tomorrow to maybe walk unto the volcano.
Motored to Gaspard Bay in the Maskelynes yesterday. Hoping to see some Dugongs, but no luck yet. Locals brought out some fruit and veggies in their canoe. Very windy with gusts up to 25kn. Overcast and chilly. If the wind eases a bit we will sail to Ambrym tomorrow.
Anchored at Ahei Island in the Maskelynes. A bit breezy, but not near so much as outside the anchorage and no swell at all. All is well aboard.
Anchored at Akhamb Island. It is a tiny island at the southern end of Malekula with white sand beaches, clear water, and several very friendly villages. Unfortunately, as nice a day as we had yesterday, this morning is overcast, rainy, with strong southeast wind. We may move around to the Maskelyne Islands this afternoon if the wind allows.
Planning to sail around to the Maskelynes this morning

Another beautiful morning after beautiful night. We have been sailing since yesterday morning with 3 reefs and a patch of jib to slow down and arrive on Sunday afternoon late. This will allow us to clear in at Vuda Point on Monday morning. It also allows for easier sailing with the cross seas. All is well aboard.

Beautiful morning after beautiful night. Looks like a Sunday arrival in Fiji which is a little problematic with customs there. Requires going to Lautoka not Vuda and paying pretty heavy overtime fees. Maybe hole up somewhere until Monday? Not sure yet.
